The Vall de Pop in the Marina Alta joins the Alicante route for wines.

0In this region of the Marina Alta the epicentre of wine production is in the Vall de Pop. A commonwealth of nine villages, which have grape vines that are centauries old as their seal of identity. Some wines that in a little over five years, have become a symbol in the Valencia Community, and are an important part of the Guarantee of Origin and a Quality of Wine from Alicante.

A fair for tasting and getting to know 2009

The Mostra de Vins I Menjars Tradicionals (The Traditional Food and Wine Expo) will be at the Jardin de Turia from the 1st to the 5th of April

feriaArriving on time for its spring date, a year on and the Mostra de Vins I Aliments Tradicionals de la Comunitat Valenciana celebrates its 21st edition. It will open on the 1st and will remain open until Sunday the 5th in the evening, in its usual venue of recent years, at the Jardines del Viejo Cauce del Turia, next to the Alameda Bridge.

Yesterday Jalon inaugurated its winery

It was built by the agricultural cooperative, with a budget of three million

The partner farmers annually harvest fifty thousand arrobas ( 1 X arroba = 25 lbs) of grapes.

01Jalon, a tiny but prosperous village ensconced in the northern part of the province, almost in the centre of the fertile valley, has given us yet more proof of how much can be achieved when interests unite towards an identical common goal. Its Cooperativa Sindical de Labradores y Ganaderos (Syndicate Cooperative of farm workers and ranchers) which groups together almost the totality of farmers has already brought about unmistakable demonstrations of how much can be achieved through mutual collaboration. Yesterday afternoon, that is to say the 22nd October 1962, will remain written in local history, because on this day the building which epitomizes the common interests of this agricultural community was built: its solemn and well installed winery.

BodegasXaló present the Bahía de Dénia Brut Nature in the CDT

0BodegasXaló has elected the CDT in Denia as the place to publicly present their new creations. This includes the Bahía de Dénia Brut Nature, “one of the first and few sparkling wines created with 100% Muscat grapes from the Vall de Pop”, according to the wine cellars oenologist. The president of BodegasXalo, Pepe Juan Reus, is “very hopeful” of the new project and wishes that “its circulation will be a complete success”.

The Virgen Pobre Cooperative made, using the “champanoise” method, almost 10.000 bottles of their new Bahia de Denia Brut Nature

BodegasXalo, or the Virgen Pobre Cooperative, yesterday presented to the public their new Bahia de Denia Brut Nature, a sparkling wine created 100% from the Muscat grape variety, typical of the region.

The Jalon Cooperative launches its new sweet wine Bahia de Denia on the market

bahia_de_denia_dulceThe success with which the Bahia de Denia wine was received, elaborated by the Virgen Pobre of Jalon Cooperative, has led this winery to bring onto the market a new wine, the Sweet Bahia de Denia. This new product was presented yesterday at the Centre for Tourist Development (CDT) of Denia, by the managers of the cooperative and the Denia and Jalon Town Halls.

The Virgen Pobre Cooperative from Jalon introduces the new muscatel Bahia de Denia to society

bahia_de_deniaIt is the essence of the Muscatel grape from Alexandria that was cultivated in the lands of Denia and the Marina Alta in Roman times, the same that blended with the American grape of the same variety around the middle of last century.

The Marina Alta’s Business Circle (Círculo de Empresarios de la Marina Alta) have this year recognised the hard work, efforts and dedication of Mongomar, BodegasXaló and Canfali, who were amongst other recipients of the Cedma Awards 2011.

A Bodegas Xaló mistela was awarded a Silver Baco in Madrid 2011

The wine cellar is at the brink of starting the grape harvest with high hopes for this year's crop.

Bodega Xaló has just been awarded the Silver Baco for their Vall de Xaló mistela, which is made using the muscat grape variety, with this year's award ceremony held in Madrid. This achievement comes after the recent success of their Vall de Xaló red mistela, at the Wine and Woman Awards which was also held in Madrid, and the Malvarrosa rosé wine which was a success in Valencia.

BodegasXaló is awarded first prize in Madrid 2011

vino_y_mujerThe Co-operative in Xalo has been awarded first prize for their red Vall de Xaló Mistela in an international competition held in Madrid (Wine and Women awards).

The contest is endorsed by the Ministry of Environment, Rural and Marine Environments.

This year 31 guarantee of origin from Spain were presented with another 9 from Italy, 6 from France and 2 from Greece with a total of 150 wines.
