A Bodegas Xaló mistela was awarded a Silver Baco in Madrid 2011
The wine cellar is at the brink of starting the grape harvest with high hopes for this year's crop.
Bodega Xaló has just been awarded the Silver Baco for their Vall de Xaló mistela, which is made using the muscat grape variety, with this year's award ceremony held in Madrid. This achievement comes after the recent success of their Vall de Xaló red mistela, at the Wine and Woman Awards which was also held in Madrid, and the Malvarrosa rosé wine which was a success in Valencia.
These awards recognise the company's hard work in recent years in the creation of wines and mistelas.
The wine cellar is at the brink of starting this years grape harvest with high quality expectations for this year's crop. First they start harvesting the best plots with the muscat grapes for their famed Bahía de Denia white wine, which has become an important reference in the Spanish white wine category, and the new Bahía de Denia Brut Nature, a sparkling wine created using the traditional method that is enhanced by itsfinesse and elegance.
The harvest continues with the collection of the giró (garnacha) grape variety for the production of rosé wines, amongst these wines is the naturally semi sweet Malvarrosa wine. In the middle of September it is the turn to harvest those plots that are at a higher altitude, in Bernia, these grapes are ideal for the production of red wine. The harvest finishes with the muscat and giró varieties, that have a higher alcohol content, which are used for mistelas.
