Cedma Awards 2011: Companies of the year

The Marina Alta’s Business Circle (Círculo de Empresarios de la Marina Alta) have this year recognised the hard work, efforts and dedication of Mongomar, BodegasXaló and Canfali, who were amongst other recipients of the Cedma Awards 2011.

On the 25th of November 2011, on board the magnificent sail boat Alhucemas de Baleària and with Denia lit up in the background, representatives of three companies; Benito Caudeli, José Juan Reus and Francisco Gómez Serradell, could feel close to their colleagues and applaud their hard work and effort during the last 30 years.

The chairman of the Baleária, Adolfo Utor, who received the same award in 2007, welcomed on board the participants. Utor was very happy that Cedma reserved his boat to celebrate the gala and during his welcoming speech he reminded those present that in today’s climate the word “globalization” should not be forgotten and that to succeed on a social, political and business level, in many occasions, comes from the outside.

Education in improving quality in the companies was the basis for the Education and Employment Councillor José Císcar’s speech, who also wished to share the award ceremony with the businessmen.

But the decisive point arrived with the judge’s speech delivered by the general secretary of Cedma, Estaban Cobos. Following the traditions of his predecessor, José Antonio Sánchez, he left out the names of the prize winners and called to the stage the sponsors of the awards: Denia Town hall, Coepa (Businessmen’s confederation in the Alicante Province) and the Cámara de Alicante.

The mayor of Denia, Ana Kringe, was the first to present an award and after praising the work of Cedma opened the envelope to reveal the first winner: Canfali Marina Alta, whose owner Paco Serradell collected the statuette and gave thanks to all those present and their employees.

The recently elected chairman of Coepa, Enrique Martín, made a speech before unveiling the name of BodegasXaló. The co-operative chairman, José Juan Reus, collected the prize on behalf of all the wine cellar’s members.

Finally the president of the Cámara de Alicante, José Enrique Garrigós, was responsible for rewarding a prize to Mongomar. Benito Caudeli, the founder of the company, who was visibly emotional, took to the stage to collect the prize and seconds later was met with his family.

Cedma chairman, Sonja Dietz, closed the meeting with a speech in dedication to Antonio Sellés, owner of the Hotel Los Angeles, who was an award winner in 2008 and who sadly passed away this year.

As well as the afore-mentioned, the ceremony also counted on the collaboration and sponsorship from Rolser, Masymas, Banco Sabadell, Dass, Euroholding, Josman, BodegasXaló, Las Provincias, Fiat Seguros, La Guía del Turista, Grupo Como, Técnicos Asociados, Deniasol, Vistalia and Quality Rent, as well as counting on an amazing setting where the businessmen could exchange opinions and contacts.
