“Vall de Xaló” is selected as the best muscatel in the Valencia Community in 2012

The “Vall de Xaló” has been awarded first place as the Best Muscatel of the Year. The Valencia Association for Agribusiness’, Proava, presented the award to the wine from BodegasXaló during the annual wine tasting held by the Els Bodeguers collective. The “Vall de Xaló” holds the Protected Designation of Origin Alicante certificate.

The award is the highest recognition for this 100% muscatel wine in the only competition for its variety organised in Spain.

The taste testing was used to promote the theme of Saint Valentine’s, the Day of the Muscatel in the Valencia Community, and was organised by Proava with a secondary aim of promoting the consumption of the esteemed liquor, which is one hundred percent natural and native to the region, as well as promoting the sale of the wine as a gift for Saint Valentine’s Day.

The blind taste testing also counted on the participation of one of the nine semi-finalists of the Golden Nose 2012, José Luis Llorens, who formed part of the seven professionally acclaimed professionals who made up the judging panel tasting the 21 samples presented by producers from the entire Valencia Community.

The Vall de Pop, in the Marina Alta, has as its centre BodegasXaló, who will make majority of the muscatel productions in the area. Due to its popularity and tradition, the muscatel of the area is an exceptional product and with it carries all the architectural culture, from the fiestas (or holidays) to the Mediterranean flavour.
